On those rare occasions when I am at a club, I'd never dream of dancing if the floor is empty; I need people surrounding me so that I can fade into the multitudes of drunken people making fools of themselves. However, last night, if someone was peeking in my windows (don't you to do that!) they might find me dancing by myself in a t-shirt and underwear to Sinatra's "I Won't Dance" using a pencil as a microphone like I was Janet Jackson.
Surrounding me would be piles and piles of books about any and everything, from the "Davinci Code" to "Heart of Darkness" to Camus' "The Stranger" to McMillian's "Waiting to Exhale" to "Effective Business Communication".
On my wall you'd see several pictures of Paris (where I want to retire), a poster that reads "Chicks Rule: You're right, you're not worthy" and a couple of posters of Zora Neale Hurston, my she-ro. Ironically, there is also a plague on the wall that reads "Award Winning Author at Work".
My desk will be somewhere nearby because while I was dancing I should have been grading papers. Instead, my laptop will be on and either my Myspace page or the Hillary Clinton webpage will be up and while I was surfing the net. Meanwhile, I turned on my beloved iPod and pressed play on the Jazz 101 playlist. Ain't my life grand? I don't think its too bad...
